I close my eyes for a moment when you enter the room

Divert them, ground myself

Create division, stop a flutter of treachery

Hardly dare to catch your eye, to sense your gaze on me

But in plexiglass I see your reflection

In plexiglass, nobody need know

Encapsulate in resin, 

Wish unearthed, but never spoken

I need a blockade that can’t be broken

I build a wall of plexiglass

Between we two

I can glance but not reach out

I can look but I can’t get close to you

You’re a harmless heart, you’re a mystery

I’d like to read someday

But I can’t get past the cover of duplicity

Run my fingers down your spine in my dreams
