Mirror

I've had this feeling for about as long as I can remember

Alienated by my own reflection

Forever waiting on the next rejection

When I met you I was used to being

The butt of everybody else’s joke

Couldn’t imagine somebody could fall for me

But when you looked at me, you recognized something

You said “Let me be your mirror

Let me be the one to show you how beautiful you are

Let me be your window on the truth

And just a little glimpse will take you far

Let me be your mirror

Show you sights that you seem unable to”

You made me wish I could see myself the way you do

(And I’m trying to, I keep trying to)

Sometimes I have the hardest time just believing

You taught me to question my perception

Taught me to see it as my mind’s deception

When I met you I was blind to so much

Couldn’t see the beauty in the world

But you became the lens I peer through

And I see more clearly when I let you guide me

You said “Let me be your mirror

Let me be the one to show you how beautiful you are

Let me be your window on reality

Until one day you’ll learn to see clearly

Let me be your mirror

Show you the sights that you seem unable to”

You teach me to see myself anew

(And I’m starting to, I keep trying to)

You said “Let me be your mirror

Let me be the one to show you how beautiful you are

Let me be your window on the truth

And just a little glimpse will take you far

Let me be your mirror

Show you the sights you seem so unable to”

You made me wish I could see myself the way you do

(And I’m trying to, I keep trying to)
